As Medical Council of India (MCI) delayed admission decision of 400 seats in Government Medical colleges in Karnataka, KEA (Karnataka Examinations Authority) also had to delay the counseling of government and government quota medical seats for Common Entrance Test (CET) rank holders.
Government of Karnataka earlier requested COMEDK to postpone the counseling process of medical seats admission but COMEDK authorities refused to postpone considering the students who applied from other states of India and already arrived for the counseling program.
COMEDK chief executing A.S.Srikanth said that the delay by the government in counseling will help private management as all the vacant seats after 31st July will end up in Management quota.
However COMEDK has given an option that the students who are selected in this counseling program can surrender their seats by 11th July or 13th July except top 300 COMEDK and CET rank holders.
The situation will become easier for the students if the KEA can complete the counseling process of medical seats allocation by 11th July so that the students who gets selected in KEA counseling can surrender their COMEDK seat.
KEA did not yet begin the mock allotment process and real allotment process may begin on 12th July.
COMEDK first round counseling for engineering seats allocation starts on 5th July and will be carried out till 15th July.
