Only Two Entrance Tests for Professional Courses Admissions from 2014

As per Karnataka Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission and Fixation of Fee) 2006 Act, which will get implemented from 2014, there will be only two entrance tests in the state for admissions to professional courses, Common Entrance Test (CET) which will be conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) and Under Graduate Entrance Test (UGET) which will be conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental colleges of Karnataka (Comed-K).

Minority Institutions and Deemed Universities used to conduct separate entrance tests earlier. According to Minister of State for Medical Education, now such entrance tests becomes illegal as per 2006 Act and Government will take action against such activities.

50% of the seats in private colleges will also kept aside for students of Karnataka according to the new act.
